Space for miscellaneous double masted vessels

The well known speeljacht image made by Willem v.d. Velde (above) is equipped with a characteristic "peaked" bow profile under the waterline.
Such profiles are also observed on fast sailing Boeier yachts like the Friso yacht, see below.

The lack of stays is no secret. Stays were not used if they were not required. A mast made of a solid tree does not need stays. Most Tjotters and Friese Jachten still do not have stays. We owned a Fries Jacht with a 13 meter solid pine mast (on a 6 x 3 meter hull) with about 40m2 sail. This mast just bent, even in high winds. Speeljachten seem to have had none or even smaller gaffs than Tjotters or Friese Jachten

any idea of the windward capacity of the twin sail rig?
